This month, we’re reading the Chaos Theory series by Sarah Harian, and taking a guess at what dark future humanity has in store (so funny, we know!). After a few weeks of sickness and exhaustion, maybe we were feeling a little bit dark?

We’re going to go watch some more figure skating to chill out…

On a happier note, we are now a part of the Geek Happy Network of podcasts! We’re joining a group of lovely, nerdy podcasts that you should definitely check out.

Happy holiday season! This month, we’re reading Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. We’re talking magical world-building and mental health coping mechanisms… Also keeping a close eye on Katie’s stoner doggy.

Next month, we’re taking a break from the books and watching Yuri!! on Ice (aka your new favorite anime)! Watch along with us and get into the competitive figure skating magic. (You can watch either subbed or dubbed for free on vrv.co.)

Get that bleep button ready… This one is going to earn that explicit rating!

Kenna here – due to a moment of questionable decision making on my part, we’re taking a dive into the supernatural romance genre with My Wolf King by Rose Wynters. This BBW romance might be so bad that it goes back to good again… almost.

I talk in ALL CAPS. The word “creamy” is uttered way too many times to be healthy. It’s not for the faint of heart.

MOM, PLEASE DON’T LISTEN TO THIS ONE.

This month we’ve been drawn into the fight for good with Madeline L’Engle’s A Wrinkle In Time. It’s a heartwarming and chilling story about three young kids fighting the spirit of true evil. It’s an allegory of humanity’s quest for goodness and triumph over evil.  …It’s really hard to describe in a succinct way and not make it sound bad.

There are creepy evil men, ugly hair monsters, and bad movie adaptations! Kenna has a nightmare.

Plus, Katie checks out a dog in the nighttime!

…and Kenna taps the table a fuck ton of times. ¯\_(:/)_/¯

This month, we’re chatting about some of the famous female leads of YA that people seem to love to hate. Bella Swan from Twilight, Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games…. and some lesser known ladies.

Books we read this month:

Twilight by Stephanie Meyer

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Marked by P.C. Cast and Kristen Cast

The DUFF by Kody Keplinger

For this month’s podcast, we’re trying something a little bit different. We’re discussing Anne of Green Gables, but as a jumping of point to a larger convo on family structures in YA… and wondering if there is a happy family in the bunch!

Seriously, tweet us if you know a good YA novel with a functional family.

For this month’s episode, we’re discussing The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. Katie’s got a bone to pick with this one… And I’m just trying to mop the tears off my library book! This one gets a little bit contentious, a little boozy, and extra sweary.
